We consider that the proposals would deliver the following benefits:
- providing a full range of high quality housing to meet the needs of the community
and to help maintain existing shops and services in the village;
- positively benefiting the social and economic regeneration of the area through
the introduction of not only new housing, but small scale employment generating
businesses which would help to maintain and enhance the viability and vitality of Chelford;
- provision of a pedestrian crossing in the centre of Chelford;
- provision of new pedestrian and cycle access to surrounding bridleways and countryside,
enhancing opportunities for existing and future residents to access the countryside beyond the village;
- possible provision of a community hall and public open space;
- ensuring that the lawful haulage use ceases and therefore the number of HGV movements
through the village is significantly reduced, thereby improving highway safety and the overall
environment and character of the village.
