Emerging design concept

The emerging design concept consists of primarily lower density family homes. The concept also presents the inclusion of a local centre with possible small scale offices and local services. A large, high quality village green will be provided to the west of the site, with the remainder of the scheme being enhanced by a strong landscape setting providing both walking and cycling links to Northwich town centre and to the nearby businesses.

Access would be taken from New Warrington Road and Chapel Street and would facilitate the closure of Chapel Street to heavy goods vehicles. Chapel Street will become a much quieter place for the local people of Wincham and road safety will be improved. The proposals include the creation of a new bus route from Wincham to Northwich and surrounding employment areas. Lower Wincham is not currently served by any public transport and this new facility would serve both existing and future residents. In addition to this key benefit, the proposal would involve the removal of the existing scrap yard which is a long standing unneighbourly use.

The final housing mix has yet to be decided and there will be an element of affordable housing which is to be agreed.
